Sitting atop Sheepstor, Dartmoor National Park

This weekend was awfully fun down here in the Dutchy! We got a chance to sample some of the more extreme things that Cornwall and the surrounding areas. On Friday the weather was blistering so we used our iWalkCornwall App to find an excellent route from St. Agnes over to Trevellas Porth with our fancy new fold out BBQ. Trevellas has some stunning scenery and is largely unknown to most locals, let alone tourists. NB the path down to Trevellas is not very forgiving on cars if you’re arriving by road! We spent the evening munching burgers and following some of the locals jumping off cliffs down below our spot. It was somewhat reminiscent of our Coasteering day last September!

We decided that Friday’s excitement just wasn’t enough so spent an hour on the A30 up to Dartmoor National Park. J has a keen interest in rock climbing and bouldering so we decided to all have a go at The Barn Climbing Centre near Tavistock. We had a great day on the wall followed by a walk around Burator reservoir and ascent of Sheepstor, one of the nearby peaks (not too big!).

When Sunday came we were thoroughly exhausted! After an extended lie in and a great breakfast at the Gylly Beach Cafe, Falmouth we thought a casual bike ride would be in order over to the Helford. The cycle takes a couple of hours and has a few hills but you are rewarded by stunning views of the river and a pint in the Ferryboat Inn on the Helford Passage.
